The Test Drive Meme

Bad news! You've been kidnapped by aliens to a very randomly planned city inside a moon in a galaxy far far away. The aliens have done this for the lulz. And research. But mostly lulz. Lots of bad and strange things happen, as the collection of weirdo citizens will no doubt tell you. The good news is this is a quiet day with absolutely no horrors, so grab your tablet and get to exploring and/or trolling.

Aww yiss open-to-all-and-any test drive meme. Have some rules, such as they are:
1. Tag in with a character. Any character. Any medium. One you've already apped, one you're thinking of apping, one you'll never app, go wild.
2. That character has either a) just arrived in Taxon or b) has been stuck in the city for some time. Totally up to you.
3. You do not have to be a member of Taxon to participate. All are welcome to pop on in and be enabled!

He's just going to get a look that's mostly an annoyed wrinkle of her nose for that. "I've heard of lots of things, experienced a few. Emotions going haywire, people believing strange things. Anything you can imagine is apparently fair game here. Good luck dealing with it."

"Fun." His tone clearly suggests he feels otherwise.

"You have no idea."

He really doesn't. Unfortunately for him, Ashley's not in the mood to explain.

"The Sanctuary was that way up until Mom left. My new place is this way. There's a lot more to the city but somehow I don't think you want me teleporting you everywhere."

That may just be a trollface grin she's giving him, as she's quite tempted to do it anyway. Just because she can.

Glaring. So much glaring. Teleporting is not his favorite method of travel.

"I'll pass."

She flexes her fingers, but doesn't actually move to touch him. The grin on her face is back, though.

"So, because you're hesitant to take the most efficient way: walking or the tram system?"

He'll just be watching that hand, making sure it keeps its distance.

"We'll walk."

Not a fan of public transport, either.

Geeze, tough customer.

"Keep the questions coming. I'm no good as a tour guide."

"I figured as much." He's grinning again, though. "You can start by finding a decent bottle of wine."

Another glare is tossed his way, but she ignores it, stopping where she is to pull out her tablet. After a little button pressing, she starts moving again.

"Just one... minute..."

Her pace picks up momentarily and soon she's rounding a corner of a building nearby and there's the hatch she was looking for. It looks a bit like a vending machine from Earth.

"You want wine? Bracelet goes here-" She points it out. "-you think of exactly what you want, and see what happens."

He'll just eye it skeptically. "You expect me to talk to a machine?"

"Oh come on."

She rolls her eyes in response and walks up to it to demonstrate, pressing her braceleted wrist against the scanner. A few moments later, a bottle of coke appears in the hatch, which she picks up and cracks open to sip from.

"Really simple."

'Ridiculous' is closer to the word he would choose, but a (relatively) unlimited supply of wine is appealing enough for him to give it a try. Viewing the bracelet with obvious disgust (he's still not happy about that addition) he presses it to the scanner.

He examines the wine bottle carefully, finally deeming it acceptable.

"Much better."

"If you want a glass, you gotta do the same thing."

Since she knew some people preferred to drink their wine in a glass instead of straight out of the bottle. She didn't need one for her coke, but she was at least trying to be accommodating.

"Particular, are they?" He'll do it anyway, of course. Drinking out of the bottle is so uncivilized. He's just going to complain about it.

"Always."

Once he's got his glass, she raises her bottle. Okay, so it's not quite the same, but at least she's trying to be... civilized or polite or whatever.

Smiling again, he tips his glass in her direction, then gestures vaguely with the bottle. "Where to next?"

"Tell me what you're interested in. It's hard to cater to someone if you don't know them."

Why was she even doing this?

"I'm a scientist, an inventor. What more do you need to know?" He rolled back slightly on his heels, studying her. "Why don't you start with living quarters. Someplace less crowded."

She glared at him in return, really starting to dislike him. He was just as arrogant as her biological father - maybe more so - and he was really pissing her off.

"Half of the buildings in the city are residences. It's just a matter of finding something you like."

It was true, but even so, she turned and started walking down the street, taking a gulp of her coke and really wishing she'd gone for the alcohol herself. This guy was really annoying.

He wouldn't take kindly to that observation, but it's their similarities that make him hate the man.

"So you just walk in and take over?"

Okay, maybe he could grow to like this place.

She nodded. "Pretty much. That's what I did anyway and so far I haven't gotten dumped on the streets again."

She also didn't really think he would need her help on that one.

"Excellent."

He rather enjoys being given permission to do as he pleases.

"Anything else I should know?"

"That pretty much covers it."

Sip as she watches him.

[geniusforgotten]

"Maybe this place isn't so bad, after all."

She shrugs in response. "It could be worse. They could be trying to eat us or something."
