It's not really a secret that Corwin likes him his alcohol. And with some inferring from canon later than he's actually in, I'm going to have to tl;dr this explanation.

Corwin is, if you didn't know, a prince of a city that's really hard to describe without another page and a half of explanation. The court of the city he's from has an official "Royal Vintner" named Bayle, whose wines are famous in several different areas. His reds, anyway. According to canon, he doesn't do so well with the whites. The red wines, though, are described as the best in several worlds, and it isn't that much of a stretch to assume that one of those would be Corwin's favorite drink.

Ahahaahaha, I know nothing about his canon (it's safe to assume I know nothing about anybody's canon here), but that's very interesting!
