MEME: AU Drabble Things

Speaking of AUs: I am blaming Dien and her tumblr for this.
1.) Tag in with your characters.
2.) Someone else tags you with with an alternate universe setting. Inclusion of their character(s) in the AU is totally cool.
3.) Write a three-sentence fic drabble-like thing in response.
4.) You tag others with AU prompts and get drabble-things in return.
GO GO GO!

FWOOF Buffy closes her eyes and lets the dust settle around her; if she licks her lips she could taste the grit against her tongue.

A quick shake of her head and a swipe of a hand across her face takes care of that.

As Buffy emerges from the alleyway, absently checking to make sure her weapons are back in place, a glint from above catches her eye.

Tony Stark, out on some Avengers errand. Not likely to train his eyes on the ground, uncover the scum that slides along the back streets and alleys and preys on the ordinary folks.

"Can't be bothered when there's a god to fight, eh Tony?" She knows she's being unfair, but on a night like tonight where the fights seem like they'll go on forever... there's a little bitterness.

Her fingers touch and adjust the pin on her lapel; when she'd started recruiting last year, it made more sense than some sort of flashy spandex outfit. Easier to stay under the radar, if anything else, since the supers tended to get cranky about ordinary citizens taking matters into their own hands.

Buffy supposes that she's far from ordinary, but she'd never fit on a team like the Avengers, or the X-men. Too obvious for what she needed. And while she was pretty sure she could flirt her way in (from what the gossip pages said, pretty blondes were one of Tony's weaknesses), how would that be fair?

Watching that spark trail off and out of sight behind a building, Buffy sighs and steps out on the sidewalk. Time to move on.
