[Jenny's face falls, and she pouts a little]

Cereal has less steps or heating elements...

[ River then realizes that she has just behaved like her brother, looks duly contrite at having upset Jenny, and pops a piece of pancake in her mouth and chews.

Then she smiles.

Good! See? She totally likes it. ]

[There is a practical part of Jenny that says "yes, that is true," and an emotional part that really just wants River to approve of her better-than-usual attempt. She lights back up when River tastes it and smiles. That's enough for her. She digs into her own breakfast.]

[Mouth full of pancake, she bounces over the fridge and retrieves the milk, snatching a couple glasses from the cupboard on the way back. She pours it with a weird sort of precision. Swallowing, she leans over and gives River a peck on the cheek as she hands over the drink.]
