Ashley stared at him. "Don't sound so excited." She may not have known what had happened after she'd died, but she knew her mother well enough to know that Helen wouldn't have taken it well. The fact that she'd had even a month of sanity with Helen was worth any trouble. "And I was sane already, thanks. Someone blasted me at the last second and woke me up."
It had been painful, but it seemed pain had been the only thing capable of truly snapping Ashley back to herself.
"Can we not call him that?" she grumbled with a roll of her eyes. "Baldy's a much better name."
She'd been aware of his efforts in stopping her and how he'd been unable to truly hurt her - both of which meant a great deal to her - but she could still recall her first two meetings with him, neither of which had gone particularly well. She wasn't sure what to think of John Druitt as a person, but she knew she still hadn't dealt with him being her father. At least not the crazy side of him.
