Brennan on Angel!

[identity profile] bonescientist.livejournal.com 2010-11-16 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
The most glaringly obvious thing about Angel that fascinates Brennan endlessly is the fact that he shares a body (only not really) with her partner back home. How two unrelated individuals from two different points in time and place can share such an uncanny physical similarity tickles the scientist side in her something fierce. As if that wasn't enough, Angel is a vampire - a being that should not even exist, at least not in Brennan's little scientific bubble. It's a double-whammy that has Brennan both intrigued and somewhat hesitant. While she's not afraid of him and she would definitely like to know more about him, it is also undeniably strange that he looks so much like the person Brennan spends most of her days with back home. While she's aware that they're obviously two very different persons, she can't help but be reminded of Booth when she sees Angel, and consequently about the fact that she does miss Booth a lot in Taxon. However, despite Angel's physical similarity with Booth, the people person, Brennan is finding it slightly ironic that certain things about his demeanor seem to vaguely resemble her own social awkwardness. In general, Brennan is very curious about Angel. The sheer scope of all the things he must have observed and experienced during his +250 years is a mind-boggling concept to her; she has plenty of questions about those as well as about his kind of vampires. She'll likely bother him with those some day soon, now that he's had a while of not dealing with incessantly inquisitive anthropologists, sob.

Sob, this has potential to be insanely rambling and repeating the same things over and over kind of response. What's there for Brennan to say about her BBF (no, I'm never letting Brennan forget this lol) that hasn't already been said? Angela was the first person who actually cared enough to look past the thorny surface of awkwardness and bluntness and strangeness to the person Brennan is underneath all of that baggage. Brennan feels comfortable around Angela to be herself without fear of being judged, even though she knows she may sometimes stretch Angela's patience. Brennan knows she can trust Angela unconditionally, whether it's just something simple as explaining certain things or something serious as providing back-up with her mad purse-whacking, eye-spitting skills. Besides Booth, Angela is the only person Brennan would drop everything for to help. Let's face it, Brennan was really rather lonely before she met Angela. She needed someone to drag her out of the lab to live life to the fullest. And to do jello-shots with.

Essentially, Angela is the sister Brennan never had and she ♥ her very much.

Spencer is a refreshing acquaintance due to the fact that he's similarly crazy smart and somewhat socially awkward as Brennan is. In many ways, he reminds Brennan of Dr. Sweets, their resident psychologist back home - quite young, brilliantly intelligent, but sadly misguided (in Bren's opinion) in his area of research. Only Spencer doesn't use air quotes and words like "awesome" like Sweets does - which is usually a plus as far as Brennan is concerned. Intelligence is soothing to Brennan, so she likes conversing with Spencer, even if I foresee some debate between them in the future about the scientific validity of what he does back home.

Any thoughts on Weird Zipper Guy, first-impressiony or otherwise (and yes I'll be tl;dring back atcha shortly)?

They haven't yet interacted a lot and she doesn't know too much about him, but Brennan's current impression on Glitch is very positive. He was the first person to contact her when she arrived to Taxon, kindly providing her with helpful information despite the fact that she was a bit terse with him due to the whole alien kidnapping thing. But her grumpiness didn't keep him from interacting with her again later, which speaks favorably of him! Brennan's not always that lucky, as it is. Glitch has a kind, mild manner to him that Brennan finds quite soothing and reassuring. When the full extent of the zipper thing will finally be revealed to her, it will more than likely have Brennan in a scientific tizzy of some kind, so Glitch should probably be prepared for a lot of questions about that. :/
